Road Racing

Roadracing on takes place on a closed circuit. Roadracers generally refer to people who race on the streets as squids. If you try to attain racing speeds on the street you will soon eat it. If you want to go fast on the streets here are some guidelines to help keep you alive. 1. Never ride fast under the influence of anything. Be well rested and alert.

2. You bike must be "race ready", in other words perfect condition.
3. Wear full protective gear. Leathers will full armor, gloves, boots, and a good helmet.
4. Never cross the center line. This is considered "running off the track." If you do you loose.
5. Late apex all blind curves. This allows you to see if something is in your lane sooner.
6. Never "shut the door" on your riding buddies. Give everyone ample "outs".
7. Understand "the signal". A raised arm means trouble a head. Slow down.
8. Ensure your buddies know the rules.
9. Never race a person whose riding skills are unknown.
10. Never, ever run from the police. They will do a Rodney King on your head when they catch you. You may be able to out run the car, but not the radio.

"And, if someone DIES as a result of that activity, then EVERYONE IN THE GROUP SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER."

What if a group of touring riders is bunched up a little too closely and one goes down causing the death of another. Should the same rule hold true? We need to take personal responsibility for our safety. If you wish to assume the risks associated with going fast on the street, fine. Not the brightest decision in the world but it is your to make.

[JRD: Nope. If someone in a tour group goes down and another dies, if the group was not actively pressing limits (such as speed laws) then it is not the same situation at all.]

The throttle goes both ways.
