Every once in a while I will post a picture of something and we will see who comes up with the quickest answer. :) Here we go.

What am I and where am I located?

I believe it is the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

Beautiful!

I tried searching and couldn't find anything, but airforce memorial is correct. Don't know how I missed this in the news, but here is a link to great video of the dedication ceremony on 10/14/2006.

How big is this thing??

And it does look like the star cluster thing of the air force deal at stunt shows, aircraft all go straight up, then taper off like a star cluster

Very cool!

At first I thought it was The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in Paris, France. But on closer look, I see some significant differences that show it is not the same.

They are very close, obviously someone copied someone's design, but still looking.

Don, you are close. It is a triumphal arch, but not in Paris.

I believe this one, with the lions, is in Munich.

Thanks, I think I found it. Looks like it is the Siegestor in Munich. Funny, when you look at sites that show either arch and their history, they were built around the same time, but nothing is mentioned about the other one, even though they are so much alike. They do mention them being copied from other older Roman arches though.

How about statues. For instance what is this called and where is this located?

A hint is that this large statue of Buddha resides in the United States.

While you are trying to find out about the Buddha and where it is located, here is another thing to test your knowledge.

What about what this is and where is it located?

Well one of them looks like the San Francisco-Oakland bay bridge but the upright supports, while showing the same geometry do not have the same height therefore I will at least hazard that it is the same bridge architect

maybe the same bridge? "three shorter truss spans connecting the San Francisco landing to the western cable anchorage located on Rincon Hill"

Hey Jolly Roger,
Buddha at Jodo Mission.
Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
United States of America.

How's that?

Hey JollyRoger,

You are correct and amazing. Don't know how you found it as references and tags to it are limited on the internet. Many buddhist statuary websites don't even make mention of it.

Here is another shot of it against the mountains of Maui.

For more on it, check out

I have seen this great Buddha in person and it is truly a sight to behold.

Ah, you've forgotten, haven't you?
I am the Googler!
Pretty simple, actually...
I just Googled "Groundhog's ex-mother-in-law on his couch".
It came right up. Pretty amazing, indeed.

I guess that just goes to show how badly I suck at this. Not only did I spend considerable time searching the net looking for the statue and could not find it, I probably drove right past it within a few hundred yards and didn't even know it was there earlier this year. I think my wife and I even stopped and had a sandwitch probably right on the edge of the mission and never knew it was behind us.

Don’t remember seeing any tourist brochures or references to it and just didn’t know it was there. Or maybe I just overlooked it because of time and other more well advertised features.

But I did ride the Sugar Cane train.

And still looking for that bridge.

OK, maybe this will redeem myself. I think I found the bridge.

It is the Akashi Kaikyo Suspension Bridge across the Akashi Strait between Kobe and Matsuho, Japan. Does look very much like the bay bridge span from San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island.
