Can anybody tell me if there is a paint stripper that won't damage the plastic rear fender on a 94 shadow? I'm told that it was painted with lacquer. Also, what is best to repaint with? Thanks.

Bunky,

Why strip? Sand, fill in any scratches, prime and spray.

it seems to have several coats of different paints, all bad. I just thought stripping it would be a whole lot easier. That's a lot of sanding!! Thanks

I have a plastic fender which I want to paint. I've been advised not to use a paint stripper on plastic as it will damage it. I've been advised the same as Indiana Randy just said. Just sand it to a smooth matt finish and apply new primer and paint.

As long as you sand down all the roughness of the old paint/s I don't think you need to remove all the layers.
