Poll Question:
Just wanted to see if there was a correlation between your birth order and your riding a motorcycle. Once the poll is complete I will see if we can draw some concrete conclusions.
Should be interesting.

This is probably meaningless without also knowing whether the person came from a family of 1, 2, or more than two.
I can add a small insight regarding my kids. #1 and #5 (of 6) ride motorcycles, but the main reason is because they're the boys. Some of the girls at least got to try it a little, but never had the same interest. |

I came from a family of 2 boys. I am about 3 years older than my brother. My brother and I were both exposed to scooters as teenagers, but we never had one of our own.
My brother has never owned a motorcycle and I just got interested in them about 12 years ago. But I think that I have always enjoyed my toys more than he ever did. |

I'm number 2 of 4 kids. Both of us "boys" are the older of the sibs with my 2 sisters, obviously, being younger. My older brother has never ridden. I've been riding off and on for about 20 years and now both my sisters have their own bikes. It helps that both sisters were very good passengers before they took the leap to being their own drivers. Both my brothers-in-law ride as well. My wife had never been on a bike before we met and in the 4 years we've been together she has turned into a real fan of the ride and a good passenger too! So it really is a family affair when we can get together and go for a spin. We have our own "bike gang"! Oh...and by the way...my 63 year old mom likes to go for a scoot on the pillion once in a while too! |

I wasn't really sure how to answer this. I am my fathers only child. I was raised with 2 older half sisters.
I choose "last born". |

I was one of one. Not sure how that would slew the results. I chose First. |

You should have chosen both first born and last born. |

First born of 3, (2 boys and 1 girl) Other boy in my family doesn't ride and probably never will. Girl in family is too young anyways (I'm more than twice her age).
voted "First born and ride"

The results, though they may be skewed, are rather interesting. But we need a bigger sample before we jump to any conclusions. |

1 of 6 and only rider, haven't a clue what that means if anything... other than my still being here apparently hasn't influenced the rest of them. ;)

Don't sell it short, Nationally, 10-4-1 IS statistically significant. |

I have 1 sister and 2 borthers all younger. My sister Bought a bike about 6 years ago and we all give her a hard time about it. My mom was hurt very badly while riding a moped so for awhile we all thought very poorly of motorcyle's. Well after my sister dropped off a 1976 Honda 750-4 for me to watch over and take care of for her, well I got bit again. I bought my VTX 1800 about 1 year ago and I have almost 12k miles on it. So to answer the question, I am the oldest and therfore first borne.. |

One day I was talking to a gentleman. I looked and saw another man walking down the street. I then made the following comment: Brothers and sisters - I have none. But, that man's father is my father's son.
As has already been stated, the possible responses to this poll do not accomodate my situation.

It's an old riddle, some say one of the first ones ever. I think the original answer was "me," but it has changed forms over time, until it becomes "my son."
Click here for the (various) answer(s).

Sure they do. You were most certainly the first born before you became the last born, therefore you'd pick "first born"... |

I have an older brother. So I'm guessing I'm the last child? lol
Regardless, I ride - he does not. His loss! haha! |

Well, the poll status says "Closed" so I didn't get to vote, but neither of my father's sons are anyone's father (or mother, for that matter).
I'm the third of four siblings (girl, girl, boy, boy in order of birth) and am the only one of the four who rides. The younger of my two older sisters probably considered riding when whe was in high school, but there's no way our parents would have let her. She's a mom now and I don't think she has any interest any more.
