We lost, but a nice article about Chelsea Letzer Temple shuts Lady Dawgs out of postseason Posted On: Wednesday, Mar. 4 2009 03:03 PM
By Evan Mohl The Cove Herald
Temple shut down the Lady Dawgs potent offensive attack.
Shadowing top scorers Cara Lumpkin and Chelsea Letzer all the night, the Tem-Cats frustrated the Copperas Cove en route to a 1-0 shutout.
"I was pleased with the effort, but we just couldn't punch the ball in the net," Lady Dawgs coach Hagen Streckel said. "Temple did a really nice job shutting down the passing lanes."
The loss put the Lady Dawgs virtually out of postseason contention at 3-6 in District 12-5A. Temple is holding down the fourth and final playoff spot at 6-3.
"It's disappointing," Streckel said. "Especially for some of these seniors."
Shannon Fogelman scored off a free kick service for the lone goal.
Amy Nunez played well in goal for the Lady Dawgs with 12 saves, including a big one on a penalty kick in the second half. The play kept Cove in the game, but the offense could never come through against a stingy Temple defense intent on no allowing the Lady Dawgs to move the ball forward.
"They are so potent offensively, but we really keyed in on No. 15 (Chelsea Letzer)," Tem-Cats coach Oscar Bersoza. "She's a really good one, and gets the ball from midfield to the attack. She makes their offense go." For Wednesday's results, please see today's Killeen Daily Herald.

Now I'm going to have to post a photo of my daughter's two-week old twins boys.
They aren't playing ball quite yet, so I can't brag about what they've been doing. ---------- Edit ---------- Jackson:
