A wheel with integral shock absorbers. A new idea or a simple extension of the same concept as the pneumatic tire? Could it have applications for off road vehicles or would the extra weight invalidate the concept?

I do not see the weight as the issue for a high speed tire. I do see that the axle would tend to want to be off center as the issue for a high speed tire. The speed may tend to center the axle, but what happens when it encounters a bump?
